10th Anniversary Challenge

This year marks 10 years since Omnia’s formation in 2013 and we have big plans to celebrate throughout 2023!

As part of our celebrations, we have decided to take on a 10th Anniversary Challenge to raise funds for four different charities.

Each of the following organisations has a different aim to support a range of people in need across the UK, and each charity holds a meaning to members of the Omnia team. The team have chosen a charity based in each of our regions and a national charity. Please use the links below to access the Just Giving pages and make a donation:

North West – The MS Society’s Preston Branch

For our North West region, we have chosen to support the MS Society, a charity which relies on donations to provide physiotherapy and support to people suffering from Multiple Sclerosis, a disabling chronic illness. We are specifically raising funds for their Preston branch, a group run by unpaid volunteers to help people in the local area. In Preston, access to specialist care is extremely limited with 18 month waits for specialists with the NHS. This means there is a real need for support from elsewhere which is where the charity steps in and helps where possible, especially for those that rely solely on the NHS. The MS Society offer subsidised exercise classes, home physio, home podiatry, talking therapy and regular social meetings. We appreciate any donations made through the link to our Just Giving page above.

Midlands – The Canaan Trust

The Canaan Trust is based in Long Eaton and supports those who may be ‘Street Homeless’ or ‘Hidden Homeless’ such as people who are ‘sofa-surfing’ or struggling with the cost-of-living crisis. The Trust is currently aiming to raise the funds needed for the refurbishment of a house purchased to home up to 9 females. The required work is estimated at just over £500,000 and our fundraising will help meet these aims. Alongside this, the charity runs a food bank 7 days a week and engages with people or families in need, addressing and supporting underlying issues they may be facing.  The Trust has been operating since 1995 and is dependent on charitable donations from corporate donors, community groups and organisations. Please use the link to our Just Giving page above to donate.

South – The Rowans Hospice

The Rowans Hospice is local to our South office, based just outside Portsmouth. They provide care and support for adults who have life-limiting illness. Their care is delivered free, with majority of their income generated by fundraising, donations, legacies and through their retail shops. We have previously supported the hospice when we took on the National Three Peaks Challenge in 2021 – read more in the blog post linked at the bottom of this page. If you would like to support our fundraising for the Rowans Hospice, please visit our Just Giving page using the link above.

National – Mind

The fourth charity we are supporting throughout 2023 is Mind, a mental health charity founded in 1946. Mind offer advice to people with mental health problems through local support networks, online tools for information and guidance, online peer groups and by operating information helplines. The organisation campaigns on a range of issues including health services, legislation, protection of legal rights and employment. They help raise awareness and promote understanding of a range of mental health issues, aiming to bring about real change in society. We appreciate any donations made through the Just Giving page linked above. Donations will go towards the running the organisation such as their support networks, helplines and campaigns.
