Head of EPS
About Omnia
Since forming in 2013, Omnia have provided Air Quality and Acoustic Services to our Clients across the UK and are currently looking for a suitable candidate to come in to manage and further develop this already established side of the business.
The right candidate should have experience in either Acoustic or Air Quality Consultancy at Senior/Principal/Associate level and experience managing projects, client relationships and business development.
Omnia EPS typically provide the following services:
- Air Quality Assessments;
- Odour Assessments;
- Air Quality Neutral Assessments;
- Work Place Air Quality Assessments;
- Noise Impact Assessments (including Vibration Assessments where applicable);
- Noise Constraints; and
- EIA/ES Scoping and Chapters.
These services are generally in support of Planning for a mixed Client base including Housing Developers, Commercial Development Clients, Tier 1 Contractors, Renewables, Infrastructure Projects, Health and Education. As with most consultancies we deliver these across the country and therefore a ‘fixed base’ is not considered essential.
Roles and Responsibilities
We envisage that this role will evolve over time starting with a very hands-on approach and developing to a full division/standalone business unit within Omnia in a relatively short period of time.
The ideal candidate will be able to/expected to deliver their respective technical discipline in the first instance whilst growing a team for Air Quality and Acoustic Services. Initially they will need to manage the sub-consultant aspects of their non-core discipline until appropriate appointments are made.
Building on the work already done by the Business Development and Marketing Manager, the candidate will also be expected to do their own BD to bring in new Clients. They will hopefully have their own existing Client contacts/base that would come across to Omnia (within the terms of any covenants). BD activities will include networking, Client meetings, relationship management and sector, services and Client diversification.
When applicable to Management Meetings and when staff are appointed across the country, some travel to the Omnia offices will be required. We envisage this being to meet with the Senior Management Team as required and to support staff as the EPS division grows.
The main roles and responsibilities will be to lead and further develop a profitable, technical and quality driven team, undertaking, but not limited to:
- Taking a leading role in the growth and sustainable development of a profitable and dynamic EPS team (across the UK/as directed by market conditions and recruitment);
- Developing and maintaining a reactive and value for money focused team for our Clients;
- Being responsible for the line management and mentoring functions for members of the team;
- Managing resources to satisfy the needs of project delivery;
- On the job mentoring of junior staff;
- Recruitment including production of job descriptions, interviewing and candidate selection;
- Managing and input in to financial budgets;
- Managing of fee forecasting;
- Production of monthly Board Reports;
- Contributing to/producing fee proposals and tender submissions as appropriate;
- Close support to the Directors in project delivery, work winning and maintaining high levels of Client satisfaction;
- Helping to win projects by actively promoting our capability and experience;
- Developing and sustaining Client relationships through the delivery of successful projects;
- Maintaining existing Client relationships through Client meetings and engagement;
- Actively developing and maintaining a network of new contacts including attendance at networking events;
- Encouraging and promoting our Social Media, advertising campaigns and other marketing activities;
- Promoting and developing BD activities within the team and Company as a whole;
- Quality Control of high-quality assessments and interpretations or other assessments including an awareness of other disciplines (i.e. Noise Impact Assessments, Geo-Environmental);
- Overseeing the production of well-presented and accurate reports and the ability to provide detailed technical review and comment on deliverables produced by others;
- Safety leadership including discharging duties in accordance with CDM Regulations (where applicable);
- Quality and Environmental leadership including continuous improvement in line with our ISO Integrated Management System.
- Directing the input to projects including the development of work scopes and delivery to budget and programme requirements;
- Reviewing of risk assessments, interpretive reports, options appraisals, tender documents and specifications and other deliverables as required;
- Presenting and communicating the results of our work to colleagues and Clients; and
- Ensuring that health and safety issues are identified and addressed throughout the life of a project in compliance with Omnia policies and procedures.
Our experience in delivering these services is that teams/staff can work remotely although as the team grows there may be a requirement for some office interaction from time to time.
