About the Role

As a Senior Geo-Environmental Consultant at Omnia you will be responsible for assisting in the delivery of project-related tasks to meet budget, time-frame and quality targets, meeting or exceeding client expectations, promoting and marketing all facets of Omnia’s services during interfaces with clients and other sectors and disciplines, contributing towards the ongoing development and growth of the business with involvement in a broad range of business and commercial activities as well as technical drive and development. 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple projects (or project components) from commission to close-out, including programme, budget, resourcing and subcontractor management 
  • Plan, specify and supervise ground investigations and associated siteworks, ensuring safe working, appropriate QA/QC and effective liaison with contractors and laboratories 
  • Develop and maintain CSMs and produce/oversee risk assessments to support planning, design and remediation decisions 
  • Prepare, manage and technically review key deliverables (e.g., Phase 1, Phase 2 interpretative reports, remediation method statements, materials management plans and verification/validation reports) 
  • Undertake internal technical reviews and ensure deliverables are suitable for purpose prior to issue and/or senior sign-off 
  • Act as a key client contact on projects, supporting stakeholder and (where required) regulator engagement to assist with planning applications and discharge of conditions 
  • Manage commercial aspects of projects including change control, invoicing, debt management and project reporting 
  • Support business development through proposal writing, contributing to pipeline/workload planning and identifying opportunities to add value 
  • Coach, mentor and support the development of junior staff 
  • Promote a positive health and safety culture and comply with relevant H&S requirements 
  • Maintain CPD and contribute to the ongoing development of Omnia’s geo-environmental capability and service offering 

Essential Skills & Experience 

  • Relevant degree (or equivalent) in geology, environmental science, geotechnical engineering or similar 
  • Project management of multiple projects of various sizes and manage junior staff in delivering the works 
  • Strong understanding of the UK contaminated land process from preliminary risk assessment through to verification 
  • Good working knowledge of relevant UK standards/guidance (e.g., BS 10175 (current edition), BS 5930 and associated best practice) 
  • Able to review/check technical reports for quality and accuracy ahead of sign off by Senior Technical Staff 
  • Experience in producing cost proposals for Clients 
  • Confident client and stakeholder liaison, including (where required) supporting regulator engagement for planning applications and discharge of conditions 
  • Must be able to demonstrate experience of reporting including:                   
  • Phase 1 Geo-Environmental Desk Top Studies;
  • Phase 2 Geo-Environmental Interpretative Reports; 
  • Remediation Method Statements; 
  • Materials Management Plans; 
  • Validation Reports etc.
  • Working towards, or holding, a relevant professional accreditation/chartership (desirable); SiLC/SQP and/or CL:AIRE DoWCoP/QP experience (desirable)
